Accessibility at Access Declared
We want Access Declared to be usable by as many people as possible. We aim to make Access Declared meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. The site has been designed and tested with these guidelines in mind, and we will continue improving it as we test, learn and receive feedback.
Accessibility features
Access Declared includes:
- An accessibility settings toolbar at the top of every page, with options for larger text, higher contrast, and an alternative font option that some people may find easier to read. These settings are stored in your own browser, not linked to any account, and apply once a page has loaded.
- Support for navigating interactive elements using a keyboard.
- A “Skip to main content” link to bypass repeated navigation.
- Visible focus indicators to help keyboard users see where they are on the page.
- Semantic HTML and a clear heading structure to support screen readers and other assistive technology.
- Labels for form fields and descriptive text for icon-only controls.
- Responsive layouts designed to remain readable across different screen sizes and zoom levels.
Testing and known limitations
Access Declared has been reviewed through internal accessibility and functional testing, including keyboard navigation, responsive layouts at desktop and mobile widths, larger-text and higher-contrast settings, and checks of interactive controls such as the checklist options and forms. This is not the same as a full independent accessibility audit.
Access Declared has not yet been independently audited against every applicable WCAG 2.2 Level AA success criterion, and it has not yet been tested with screen readers or other assistive technology. We may not yet have identified every barrier.
The site is new and testing is ongoing. Two things we already know: the accessibility settings in the toolbar are applied once a page has loaded rather than instantly on first paint, and because those settings are stored in your own browser they will not follow you to a different browser or device. If your browser blocks local storage, the toolbar will still work for the current visit but your choices will not be remembered. Your browser or operating system's own text size, zoom and contrast settings work independently of the toolbar and are unaffected.
We will update this statement as further testing is completed and any known issues are identified or resolved.

Access Declared is a new initiative, and feedback is especially valuable as we continue to test and improve it.
If you find part of the site difficult to use, or something does not work with your assistive technology, please report the accessibility problem through our feedback form. It helps if you can tell us which page or feature you were using and, where relevant, the browser, device or assistive technology involved.
Report an accessibility problem
Submissions are stored so we can review them. The feedback form does not ask for your name or email address, so we cannot reply directly. If you would like a response, please email accessdeclared@gmail.com.
The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that submissions are not automated, which involves processing some technical information about your device or connection. Our privacy policy explains this in full.
